“The Hunger Games” opened this past weekend to record box office, as expected. The best-selling book continues its huge attraction, but now, on the big screen.

By now, you’ve heard or read about the story: the annual televised games, in a post-apocalyptic world, a fight to the death involving two teenagers, Katniss Everdeen (actress Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (actor Josh Hutcherson.)

But what you may not know is the influence of the media on this tale.
