Participants in a roundtable discussion talked about the importance of media literacy in creating an informed citizenry. Topics included discerning the reliability of information, programs designed to improve consumer uses of news, and teaching media literacy. They also talked about various initiatives in developing countries, participation by international journalists, and worldwide public education projects.
