This paper is written against this background of this dilemma and examines some of the key issues involved in the challenge of reducing the digital divide between the haves and have-nots. The discussion is structured as follows. Section 2 briefly examines the nature and magnitude of the digital divide and poses the challenge of a social movement focused on the digital divide. Section 3 deals with the experiences of one project aimed at bringing hope to people excluded by poverty. The paper ends with a number of ideas to help stimulate the formation of the social movement.
