First 31 days of Iraq War News Coverage
The first 31 days of Iraq war news coverage was similar to reality television episodes in that the majority of the coverage contained the five elements of reality television. Significant amounts of pro-U.S. and episodic media frames were also present in the coverage. The episodic frames minimize the viewer’s feelings of obligation or social responsibility to consider and discuss the elements of war the pro-U.S. frames are not showing. The presence of the reality frames support claims that the war was presented to viewers as entertainment.
