In this post, Stephen Downes, Senior Researcher for the National Research Council of Canada and pioneer of major e-learning developments – such as MOOCs, syndicated learning and the concept of connectivism – introduces us to the next generation of learning technologies: ‘learning and performance support systems’.
Launching in beta on September 30th, the technology is expected to take the online learning experience to a whole new level. The application provides individual learners with the tools and support necessary to access learning from any number of providers – not just educational institutions, but also their friends and mentors, their current and future employers, community and social programmes, and much more.
