The European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA) 2016 report.
2016 has been both a very successful and transformative year for ECREA, marked primarily by organisation of largest ever bi-annual European Communication Conference and elections of the new management of the association. It could be said that in 2016, ECREA moved from the period of consolidation to the period of strategic development, embarking on a number of projects which aim to make ECREA a more active and visible player in the field of European higher education.
Responding to the mounting pressures on academic freedom in 2016, ECREA established Public Statement Committee which aims to promote protection of academic freedoms, support our members and pressure responsible parties or national bodies. In 2016 we also laid the groundwork for formation of ECREA Ethics Committee and development of code of ethics to protect and promote responsible standards of academic conduct. Moreover in November 2016, the new Executive Board has taken on a task of defining strategic goals of ECREA’s future development.
