In 2015, 90 percent of all jobs across all job sectors will require digital skills. As Europe is transforming itself into a knowledge-based economy, positions requiring high level skills and education will rise from 25 percent to 31 percent. Despite the economic crisis and higher unemployment rates across Europe, the ICT workforce is still increasing at a steady rate of 3 percent, with the workforce expected to grow to 5.26 million in 2015. At the same time however, there is a growing shortage of ICT professionals. Europe is expected to lack 700,000 professionals by 2015. Interest in computer science compared to other university subjects has also declined. In the EU27 the percentage of computer science graduates among all university graduates has fallen by 0.6 percent from 2005 to 2009.
