The fifth meeting of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF)
was held in Vilnius, Lithuania from 14-17 September 2010.
It focused on the overall theme of “IGF 2010 – Developing
the Future Together”. The unique multi-stakeholder gathering
focused on recurring IGF themes such as the management
of critical Internet resources, access and diversity, and
security, openness and privacy. In addition to pushing
forward the global dialogue on these important topics, the
meeting also convened main sessions on Internet Governance
for Development and Cloud Computing for the first
time. The last session of the forum took stock of Internet
governance and considered the way forward. In addition to
the main sessions, 113 workshops, best practice forums,
dynamic coalition meetings and open forums were held
over the four days which both fed into and reinforced the
dialogue that took place during the main sessions.
The purpose and intention of this book is to provide a
concise yet comprehensive summary of the proceedings
that took place in Vilnius. Included are edited transcripts of
all of the main sessions and the reports of the workshops
and other events.
