European Youth Media Days are annual event that brings together young journalists from all over the European Union, every year on different topic. This year´s European Youth Media Days tackled media freedom in Europe and beyond. The event took place from 20th to 22nd of October at the European Parliament in Brussels. It was organised by the European Parliament in collaboration with the European Youth Press – Network of young media makers.
You will hear the recordings from two panel discussions: “The European Parliament’s role in supporting media freedom in the EU and its neighborhood“ with Tanja Fajon, Member of EP Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, Andrea Bonanni, journalist at La Repubblica, and Haris Dedovic, European Youth Press board member, and „(Self-) censorship: how free are we really? Media freedom and censorship in 21st century Europe“ with Jean-Paul Marthoz, from the Committee to Protect Journalists, Vytis Jurkonis, project director at Freedom House, and Anna Saraste, EYP board member and coordinator of the project “Free our Media”.
