BELONGING is a transnational initiative designed to enable young people to explore intercultural dialogue – grounded in the specificity of personal and social opportunities, as well as the challenges which arise around new migrations and the making of new communities.
43 short films were produced and screened in a variety of settings in the 3 countries, including broadcast. They are also used in an educational material for schools. Young people from London, PAris and Lisbon gathered in Paris in December 2008 to take part in the end celebration of the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue; they discussed and compared how they feel they belong, using their film as a starting point for discussion.
BELONGING was devided and led by Manifesta, in association with the Runnymede Trust. Local partners were Vende-se Filmes, Tribudom, NYPA and Forest Gate City Learning Centre. It is supported by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the Equality and Human Rights Commission, Youth in Action, and RTP.
