Established in 1997 by David Gauntlett, Theory.Org is a unique website which explores complex connection between media and identities while trying “to have a little fun”. The site is useful for teachers, media educators, and students alike. It encourages viewers to let young people explore and understand their identity by using icons in pop culture that they can relate to. Theory.Org includes links to other websites such as ArtLab – which encourages teachers to allow students to express themselves creatively and artistically through drawing and art – and also outlines new curricula teachers may want to incorporate into lessons plans which acknowledge and make use of new media such as the internet as learning tools.
