The Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development was founded in 1995 by decree of Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, in order to increase quality of life and education in Qatar and other nearby regions.
Education City, a 2,500 acre campus hosting branch campuses of leading universities such as Georgetown, Carnegie Mellon, Cornell Medical and others, has also emerged since the Foundation’s establishment.
The Qatar Foundation views people as the world’s greatest resource and therefore aims to prepare the people of Qatar and the region to meet the challenges of an ever-changing world and to make Qatar a leader in innovative education and research.
