The European Observatory on Children’s Television, EOCT, develops its activities under the premise that television content should be formative, educational and entertaining. The creation of the Observatory was foreseen as a unifying element of individual efforts supporting the work of the WFCT (World Forum on Children’s Television) and the BITF (Barcelona International Television Festival), initiated in Barcelona in 1997.
The Observatory proposes to be a true point of observation, information, education and advice on children’s television and the media in general. It resolves to create an appeal for discussion and interdisciplinary study for a critique of children’s program and their content from an ethical perspective, and within this interdisciplinary context there are many contributions: educational, psychological, philosophical, etc.
