The RCA was established in 2000 with the primary goal of promoting communication research, education, and practical social application of both in Russia. Its activities include exchange of research and professional information with RCA members and with its international partners; development and mainstreaming of the communication curricula and syllabi in the system of higher and secondary education in Russia; organization of professional seminars and conferences in communication research and communication education; and publication of various communication materials (including electronic). The RCA aims to develop collaboration with various international professional organizations, such as the National Communication Association (USA), International Communication Association (USA), International Pragmatics Association (Belgium), etc.
