Metro is a national, refereed journal that is published four times per year. Published since 1968, it is Australia’s oldest, continuously published film and media magazine.
metro specializes in longer articles, reviews, interviews and analyses of Australian, New Zealand and Asian cinema, television and new media. The magazine receives funding from the Australian Film Commission, Film Victoria and the NSW Film and Television Office.
Metro has also worked in partnership with Australian Screen Education and ATOM (Australian Teachers of Media) to produce a series of study guides for Australian documentaries that teachers can use in the classroom. Lists of these study guides are available through the metromagaize website.
metromagazine also has a speakers’ bureau (of the Australian Teachers of Media Inc., (ATOM), administered by Metro magazine), which offers schools, universities, community organizations and commercial enterprise access to many of Australia’s leading screen practitioners and technicians.
