Created in 1950, Knight Foundation has invested nearly $315 million in projects seeking to advance journalism quality and freedom of expression.
The Knight News Challenge, a contest awarding as much as $5 million for innovative ideas using digital experiments to transform community news, is in its second year of operation. Last year’s winners included 25 individuals,
private and public entities. The Foundation plans to invest at least $25 million over five years in the search for bold community news experiments.
The foundation actively seeks opportunities that can transform both communities and journalism, and help them reach their highest potential.
