Held each year in a different location, the “IFLA World Library and Information Congress” convenes members and associates of the IFLA, the “global voice of the library and information profession.” As the international body representing the interests of library and information services and their users worldwide, the IFLA seeks to promote high standards of provision and delivery of library and information services, encourage widespread understanding of the value of good library and information services, and represent the interests of members throughout the world. The IFLA consists of specific function committees that oversee the organization’s activities, including the Committee on Free Access to information and Freedom of Expression.
