EMAJ Magazine is an intercultural magazine, made by a network of young journalists from the Middle East, North Africa (MENA) and the EU.
We work by the following code:
Be aware of your own biases and prejudices,
examine how they affect your way to approach the topic,
and always make clear when you are making information or opinion.
We believe that one point of view is never enough to see the full image of the reality, especially in regard to events taking place within our home regions.
As reporters and editors we understand that good journalism on both sides of the Mediterranean is a result of hard work to get the voices of those who can’t find their way to the mainstream media on their own.
The journalists who contribute to this unique initiative met during the Euro-Mediterranean Academy for Young Journalists EMAJ, a workshop which has brought together young journalists from the EU and the MENA regions at two occasions: in 2008 in Amman, Jordan and in 2009 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
The EMAJ Magazine focuses on issues related to the European Union, Middle East and North Africa with special regard to the relationship between the regions as well as human rights, intercultural dialogue and immigration.
