The National Television Council (CNTV) oversees television services broadcasting in Chile. It develops institutional policies aimed at advising, promoting and regulating the activities of all the actors involved in this sector. The Council is made up of five departments that supervise contents, carry out research, encourage the production of high-quality programs and oversee open to air television licensing services. It also has a proprietary educational television channel called Novasur. In 2009, in accordance with the latest developments in digital media, the Council has included Media Literacy in its action lines.
