ActiveWatch-Media Monitoring Agency is a Romanian human rights advocacy NGO with media expertise that fights for free communication in the public interest. Since 1997 ActiveWatch has been developing its Media Education Program that aims to promote media literacy in Romania and to implement media education in schools.
The main objectives of the ME Program are: • Promote the need for media literacy in a society dominated by the media; • Contribute to media consumer’s critical thinking towards media messages; • Contribute to teachers training for media education; • Help stakeholders acknowledge their role to play in promotion of media literacy (educators, parents, national audiovisual regulator etc.); • Advocate for more media education within the curriculum; • Continue to evaluate the level of media literacy in Romania.
