The MICE comes back again in its third year, and it comes full of innovating proposals, more consolidated, and with more quality than ever. Infantil Cinema grows up.
Mostra Internacional de Cinema Educatiu, MICE’s third edition, organized by the cultural association Jordi el Mussol, comes this year with more energy than ever. Spring arrives making flowers grow up from the trees and it is because after two years building smiles in people’s faces, the MICE keeps promoting audiovisual and comunicative material to education, but always with lots of colors, joy and looking forward to enjoy cinematographic culture of all parts of the world. In spite of the times we are going trought and the economic situation that we are in, the MICE offers a break of three days, a festival where people will join a lot of activities that will make you feel butterflies in the stomach and will fill you head of new proposals.
This year, United States of America will be the guest country in the festival, that will have an specific section with a monograph for education and cinema in the US, with the collaboration of the US embassy in Spain. This section will try to draw the reality of a country full of audiovisual media and educational cinema, that goes so much farder than the Hollywood cinematographic industry and DreamWork’s products. The festival will count with audiovisual profesionals from all over the world. The MICE will have the pleasure of counting with the italian cinema director Lamberto Bava that will be for sure a guest from which we can learn a lot about cinema with the activity “Open conversation” and we will get to know better the cinematographic world from a profesional perspective.
During the festival, we will join cinematographic workshops with audiovisual materials for the young people that want to experiment and enter into a creative adventure for a while. Do you want to play with a zoótrop or doing special effects? There will be croma workshops, dubbing workshops, you will design a story board, you will have the oportunity of making cinematographic make up…Or do you want to experience what is doing a casting like? There are lots of oportunities to discover unexplored territories, lots of oportunities to feel like an actor, actress, director or a screenwriter for a day and open a future full of posibilities.
The main meal in the MICE will be the round tables and the talks where creators and directors of intantil festival, specialist from the university and academic world and ministry and embassy’s representatives will discuss about the relationship between education and audiovisual material. It will be fantastic to have one of the best Educomunication specialist in the world like professor Kathleen Tyner from Texas University, or mexican Liset Cotera who is cultural association La Matatena director, or having too Festival Nueva Mirada de Buenos Aires director, Susana Vellegia. The debate and the exchange will take place in the round table Media Literacy, that is the education of audiovisual media and technological material, the education focus in teaching how to understand what the media is telling us and how to analize the messages from a critical perspective.
There will be, as it couldn’t be less, a section of the MICE, dedicated to the competitive part, where short films coming from all over the world will come out to Valencia’s light and will be projected for a jury to evalue them. Short films will be directed by young and adult people. With this activity, alternative ways of enjoying original cinema will be shown. A kind of cinema looking forward to be seen and let the spectators imagine new realities and new worlds. It will easy for you to feel thrilled with an iranian kid that plays with the leaks in his ceiling or wih the adventures of two swedish twins. Also, we are lucky to have a international prestigious jury made of profesionals from India, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Philipines, Turkey…
La Mostra Internacional de Cinema Educatiu is a great oportunity to get to know different ways of making cinema and to get to know too other ways of learning using audiovisual media and image language’s. Don’t miss this train, because even if more trains are coming, they won’t be the same one. Join us the last weekend of March and get into a cinematographic adventure that will make you come into…action!
