Media & Information Literacy Programme Visits Schools in Qatar

January 8, 2013, Filed Under: Articles, Media & Information Literacy, Media Education Policy, Youth Media

On Tuesday 11122012 we have executed a Media literacy Presentation in Arwa Independent High School in Qatar in which it has a participation of 28 female students.

The students interacted and engaged with the trainer very well, and were interested to discuss the implications of media, and they are desired of joining and participating in the program as junior reporters, the ML Session have been attended by UNESCO Representatives from Supreme Education Council with different school teachers and principle of school.

Junior Reporter made some short interviews with a group of students and their opinions were as follows: ( it is a great idea because it helps to communicate with oneself and others, give me self-confidence and encouraging me to understand Media. It helps to express myself and I feel fluently speak without fear. I feel it is a creative and innovative programme and is more useful for girls because it is an opportunity for them especially talented ones. It increases Media Culture and thus help others, most notably her family because most Arabs do not recognize the family culture in media. Allows people to focus on the importance of the media and this is helpful for young women in the media with a big ambition.)
Also, there will be further cooperation with the school for media coverage of the exhibition (Let your creativity speak) and hosted by the National Committee for UNESCO Associated Schools with Arwa High School between 9th -10th January 2013.
