The cooperation
programme in Media Literacy and Cross-Cultural Dialogue has been
proposed as a bridge of comprehension and stimulus for the peace and the
coexistence, focused in media literacy.
The project
acts as a center of investigation and observatory of the positive role of media
and their educational impact in the global dialogue, and also promotes the
production and studies in media literacy in relation to intercultural dialogue
and international cooperation.
The
Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) will begin with diverse academic
activities the next September during a year. Then, subsequently the activities
will be carried out by the associated universities of the network, which are,
Cairo University in Egypt, Temple University in the United States, University
of Sao Paulo in Brazil and University of Tsinghua in China, and with the
collaboration of the Alliance of the
Civilizations (AoC).
The
network supports initiatives that can be a stimulus to develop a critical
conscience against media and promote civic participation of citizens. The
network will be coordinated by the Gabinete
de Comunicación y Educación at the Faculty of Sciences and communication of
the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

foreseen that the network will be formalized for the second meeting of the Forum of the
of the Civilizations, which will be celebrated 6 and 7 of
An event of vital importante, which already counts with the attendance of
important heads of state, recognize this is a moment in which the purpose of
understanding and respect to the cultural diversity requires joint efforts.
