The Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Summer School 2017 is currently seeking proposals of articles and communications to attend to roundtable sessions and participate in workshops.

The main themes under which the topics fall are: reforming and transforming education; innovation in journalism; communication research; new competences and social media; and news literacy and political participation. We invite doctoral researchers working on relevant topics to participate in the MIL Summer School.

The goal of the MIL Summer School is to bring together researchers in academia and industry from all over the world attempting to address the important challenges in the evolving world of media and information literacy, while simultaneously bolstering the potential and talent of researchers in the first stage of their careers.

Researchers can participate in two different ways: 1) presenting a poster/paper and/or 2) attending the round tables and events.

Poster Presentation Instructions: The posters will be presented orally by the participants and need to be sent in a pdf two weeks before the event. The boards preferably should have an A0 dimension (84.1 x 118.9cm) and portrait oriented.

Some tips: Regardless of the content, keep it simple and don’t overload with text. Summarize your information and make your poster easy to scan over quickly. Think about how you could present the information in a more visually interesting way. Use charts and graphs wherever possible instead of harder to read tables or paragraphs of text.

The active participation and attendance to the Summer School will grant a certificate.

The MIL Summer School is an initiative of the Journalism Department with the support of the research group Gabinete de Comunicación y Educación from UAB and is supported by the UNESCO-UNAOC University Cooperation Programme on Media and Information Literacy and Intercultural Dialogue.
