Gateway Media Literacy Partners STEM & Media: A Natural Fit (a day of PD for K-12 educators)

Area K-12 educators are invited to Shaw Nature Reserve to participate in an experiential outdoor workshop, with a media literacy twist. Take fall nature photos to share on Instagram and Tweet about what you are learning throughout the day at #GMLPSTEM. This workshop will be lead by Shaw outdoor educators and volunteer teacher naturalists.
Mr. Don Corrigan, author, publisher and Webster University journalism professor will be the keynote speaker. Corrigan will speak about his new book Environmental Missouri.
Much of the workshop curriculum aligns to Missouri Learning Standards. Learn specifics on the registration form. Workshop Certificate of Participation available.
Workshop sessions will be held both indoors and outside. Dress appropriately for the weather. A group hike to the Shaw Wetlands will take place weather permitting.
Cost: $20 (cash only) – covers materials and provided lunch.
In order to explore Shaw Nature Reserve, please wear/ bring hiking shoes, hats, gloves and wear layers.
Cancellation Policy:
GMLP must have a minimum of 25 participants to run this event. Should the event need to be cancelled, those who have signed up will be notified on November 7.
