Digitally Connected: Towards a Global Community of Knowledge and Practice around Children, Youth, and Digital Media

The Berkman Center for Internet & Society and UNICEF will co-host an international symposium on children, youth, and digital media at Harvard University on April 28-30, 2014, to map and explore the global state of relevant research and practice, share and discuss insights and ideas from the developing and industrialized world, and encourage collaboration between participants across regions and continents. With a particular focus on voices and issues from the Global South, the symposium will address both challenges and opportunities children and youth face in the digital environment, including (but not limited to) issues such as inequitable access, risks to safety and privacy, skills and digital literacy, and spaces for participation and civic engagement and innovation.
