ASC Digital & Media Literacy Summer Camp

This specialty camp provides students with enriching and exciting opportunities to become effective communicators and consumers, critical thinkers, creative problem solvers, and empowered citizens. Rising 1st through 12th Grade students receive instruction from CMS master-level licensed teachers for the 6-week camp.
Session One: Empowering Students as Digital Storytellers
June 17-21 and June 24-28
Tell the story of healthy living! With the guidance of mater-level teachers, students will gain experience in storytelling, digital photography, and videography. Students will be immersed in the rich culture of Charlotte’s local farms and food markets in their work as digital storytellers. Students will apply STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) concepts as they promote healthy living initiatives through a public marketing campaign.
Session Two: Uniting Students as Multimedia Artists
July 8-12 and July 15-19
Create a collective masterpiece! Students will explore symbols of Charlotte and apply STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) to plan and create art. With the guidance of master-level teachers, students will work together as multimedia artists to create a piece of art that represents the rich history and diversity of the city of Charlotte.
Session Three: Exploring Together as Environmental Artists
July 22-26 and July 29-August 2
Make a difference in our community! Students will apply (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) concepts in their work as environmental artists. With the guidance of master-level teachers, students will work within the community to design and install a rain garden that will positively impact the local environment.
