Article from a book edited by ELOÍSA NOS ALDÁS, FATUMA AHMED ALI and JOSÉ IGNACIO MARTÍN GALÁN, and published by Universitat Jaume I. —————–
The UNESCO Chair of Philosophy for Peace-Interuniversity Institute for Social Development and Peace-IUDESP (Jaume I University) recently presented in Spain the new book Communication for Peace in Action: Journalisms, Conflicts, Media Literacy and Alliance of Civilization, published in collaboration with the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations. The first book lunch took place in the forum of the book-shop Babel (Castellón de la Plana). The co-author and editor of the book, José Ignacio Martín, was invited to give a conference about the role of communication in conflicts and peacebuilding.————

This book is part of the work developed by the department for research in communication for peace of the UNESCO Chair of Philosophy for Peace and the Interuniversity Institute for Social Development and Peace-IUDESP (Jaume I University), in collaboration with the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC). From a mass media communication perspective, this volume exposes academic research and lessons learned in four areas: the mass media impact on the construction of cultural violence, alternative media for peacebuilding, media literacy and the Spirals of Peace proposal to follow the complex path towards the yearned for and encouraging Alliance of Civilizations. The co-editors of the book are Eloísa Nos, Fatuma Ahmed and José Ignacio Martín Galán.
